ACCESS TO THE OBSERVATORY & HSS LECTURE CENTRE
The Observatory
The Observatory is situated on top of a Victorian reservoir, at the highest
point of Hampstead Heath. The location is surrounded by iron railings, and has
illuminated steps leading up to the building during viewing periods.
To get to the Observatory from Hampstead Tube:-
- Out of the exit turn right up Heath Street
- Carry on to the top of the hill, at Whitestone Pond
- Turn left parallel to the South side of the Pond, towards West Heath Road
- Almost immediately, you will find a gap to the left, for pedestrians, with
a sign to Fenton House
- Go through the gap, onto Hampstead Grove
- Then again, immediately turn right into a short lane, going away from Fenton
House
- The entrance to the Observatory is on the left.

Car:- Car Parking in Hampstead Grove, after 8pm
The HSS Meetings and Lectures
The HSS hold their meetings in the Crypt Room of St. John's Church
To get to St John's Church from Hampstead Tube:-
- Out of the exit (turning left if the exit is not at the corner of the crossroads),
cross over Hampstead High St and proceed South along Heath St
- Turn right into Church Row
- St John's is the Church straight ahead
- The entrance to the Crypt Room is on the South (left hand) Side, past Harrison's
Tomb, and down a few steps.

Buses:- 46, 268
Car:- Parking is allowed in meter spaces at the West End of Church Row after
6pm, and in residents' spaces after 8pm. To allow for this, meetings begin at
8:15pm.
