Stock Faults on the LX200 GPS.

These are standard faults found on various sections of the LX200 GPS series telescope systems.

This list is under construction at the moment. (For your interest, these are not faults on my own equipment, but data gathered together from the return systems I receive for servicing).

All servicing should not be undertaken lightly, and the correct tools are essential for diagnosis. A good Digital Voltmeter and Oscilloscope form part of that toolkit, as well as antistatic precautions.

Symptom:- Lack of intensity when using Meade Illuminated Reticule Eyepiece, #07067.

The controller chip U11 appears to have a programming problem, where the drive output to the transistor Q5 has insufficient level to fully control the reticule LED. The output from this device peaks at 0.3Volts and can only provide a max. current through the LED driver of 1ma.

A hardware modification is required to add an interface circuit replacing R29 on the original power/controller board. Please Email me for the modification.
